How To Download Videos From Facebook (PC, Android, iPhone) – The Only Guide You Need To Read [2024 Edition]

Here to know how to download videos from Facebook? Don’t worry, we got you covered. There’s a range of reasons why one would want to save Facebook videos. Maybe you want to watch them later, build a personal digital archive, share a meme from a Facebook group externally, or are preparing for a situation where Internet access is at a premium. No matter your reason, saving Facebook videos is a perfectly valid option.

Unlike other platforms such as TikTok, YouTube Premium, or Netflix, there is no official way to download videos from Facebook. Facebook used to support downloading videos natively, but that option has since been removed.

Fortunately, there are a few nifty tricks to download videos from Facebook and mobile. This article will show you how to do it.

Before getting started, we’ll let you know that while there are many ways to download Facebook videos, YTD Downloader is by far the easiest and most convenient way to save your favorite videos. So, if you don’t want to overcomplicate things, you might want to check out our solution.

Let’s delve into this guide.

Is it Legal to Download Videos From Facebook?

Much like other platforms, downloading Facebook videos (either via workarounds or third-party tools) is legal as long as you’re using said videos for personal or non-commercial reasons. In other words, as long as you’re not uploading said videos without crediting the original creator or getting their express permission, you should be safe. However, since Facebook doesn’t have a direct way to download videos, your leverage may vary.

How to Download Videos from Facebook to Computer (PC & Mac)

We ran the following test ufsing Chrome, Safari, and Firefox browsers.

Did you know that there’s a nifty little trick to downloading Facebook videos that involves simply copy pasting a link and adding a bit of code? In 2023? Yeah, we couldn’t believe it ourselves. Here’s what you have to do:

How to download Facebook Video

  1. In your browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox), go to Facebook and find the Facebook video that you want to download.
  2. Click on the dotted button and tap on “Copy Link.”
  3. Paste your link into a new browser tab. When pasted into the browser’s field, the link should look something like “” Pressing enter should expand the link and show the full URL starting with “”
  4. Here’s where the magic happens – replace the “www” in the URL with “mbasic” and press Enter.

5.Doing so should launch the mobile view (which is not very pleasing to the eyes – hence the “basic” in the code).

6. Press the play button to start the video and open it in a separate tab. If it doesn’t, simply right click the video and tap “Open in a New Tab”.

7. Right click on the video and click “Save Video As”.

8. Choose a location to save the Facebook video at.

9. Enjoy your video.

This is one way to download Facebook videos. But what about downloading Facebook Reels? Well, it turns out, there’s a workaround for that, too.

It should be noted that this method does not work on mobile devices. We’ve run a couple of tests, including pasting the link in a notes app, adding “mbasic” manually, and pasting the link back in the address bar, only to be met with a login page. So, if you want to apply the “mbasic” trick, PC and MAC are your best bet.

How to Download a Facebook Reel

Let’s make one thing clear: at the moment, the platform does not support downloading Facebook reels natively. This means that downloading Facebook reels via the official website (PC & Mobile) or the official Facebook app is impossible.

However, there is a way to download Facebook reels, which, apart from a few slightly different steps, is basically the same as downloading Facebook videos:

  1. Open your browser (again, any browser) and go to Facebook.
  2. Look for the Reel you want to download.
  3. Open the Facebook Reel in full screen mode.
  4. Click on the dotted button in the top right corner of the reel.
  5. Click “Copy link”
  6. Paste the link in a separate browser tab.
  7. Replace the “www” with “mbasic” and Press Enter.
  8. Play the video, right click on the video and click on “Save video as”.
  9. Enjoy your Facebook Reel.

How to Download Facebook Videos on Android or iPhone

Sadly, there is no straightforward way to download Facebook videos on Android and iPhone without using a third party app. The reason why we decided to include this section is because most of the methods found on the internet do not work anymore.

For example, for a time, one could copy the link from the app, paste it in the browser address field, long tap on the video, and tap on Download. As you can see in the demonstration below, this method doesn’t work anymore because the Download button literally doesn’t exist:

Another method that doesn’t work on mobile is the “mbasic” trick. However, even on the devices that it does work on, it’s pretty convoluted and not exactly conducive to batch downloading Facebook videos. In other words, it’s only practical if you want to download one, maybe two Facebook videos in a session.

Thankfully, we have a solution to download Facebook videos that’s not only super simple to use but also cheap and convenient. That solution is called YTD Downloader.
